ENVIRONMENTALISTS AND OFFICIALS FROM THE EMERGENCY MINISTRY WILL INSPECT RADIOACTIVE FORESTS IN BRYANSK REGION

Anti-atom.ru, August 17, 2010 - On Wednesday, August 18 activists from Ecodefense are joining officials from the Emergency Ministry on the tour to inspect the situation in Bryansk region where radioactively contaminated forests were burning through last month.

Last Friday, head of the Emergency Ministry Sergey Shoigu demanded to stop "rumors" about fire in radioactively conminated zone in Bryansk region. Immediately after his statement, web-site of governmental forest agency "Roslesozaschita" removed all data on forest fires in radioactively contaminated zone near Bryansk. Environmental groups actively criticized this action and called on government to stop
censorship.
